The Datejust 36 has been a rep market staple for years, but getting the weight, dimensions, and movement all right at the same time has been the problem. Most versions get one or two of the three. VSF's V2 update aims to hit all three: 121.5 grams on the scale, 11.60mm case thickness, and the Dandong 3235 movement.
There are also fake VSF models circulating now that the V2 is in demand. This review covers the technical upgrades and how to verify you're getting an actual VSF V2.

Bottom line
1. Weight and white gold bezel
The V2 weighs 121.5 grams, matching gen. Earlier batches were lighter, and the weight difference was noticeable the moment you picked the watch up. VSF recalibrated the case construction to add mass without increasing the case thickness.

The fluted bezel uses an upgraded white gold electroplating process. Standard Datejust reps have a problem with the bezel oxidizing and fading over time, especially on the high points of the fluting. VSF's plating is more resistant to this. It's still plating — it will wear eventually at contact points — but it holds up better than the standard treatment.
2. Case thickness and crystal edge
Digital caliper measurements: Gen Datejust 36 is 11.59mm. VSF V2 is 11.60mm. That's a 0.01mm difference.

For context, standard market versions using the Shanghai 3235 movement run about 12.00mm. The extra 0.4mm is visible in the mid-case profile and changes how the watch wears.
The crystal edge where the sapphire meets the bezel is a detail most factories get wrong. Gen has a straight, flat drop-off at the crystal edge. VSF replicated this. Standard market versions have an incorrectly rounded crystal corner that's visible when you look at the watch from the side. It's a quick way to distinguish VSF from cheaper versions in QC photos.
3. Dandong 3235 movement
This is the same 3235 VSF uses across their Datejust and Submariner lines. It's an integrated clone, not a decorated ETA. The architecture matches gen, and about 99% of parts are interchangeable with gen Rolex components. That matters for serviceability: if a part fails, a watchmaker who works on Gen 3235 calibers can replace it.

The rotor runs on a 27-jewel ball-bearing system. Winding is quiet and efficient. Power reserve is 72 hours. The date flips instantaneously at midnight.
4. How to spot a real VSF V2 (5 checks)
Fake VSF models are in circulation because the V2 is in high demand. VSF implemented five verification points. If any are missing, you're looking at a different factory's watch being passed off as VSF:
Warranty card: VSF V2 ships with a custom molded fluorescent anti-counterfeit warranty card. Under UV light, it reveals a hidden logo pattern. One card per watch, unique anti-counterfeit sticker.
Golden Elephant packaging: The V2 comes in new packaging with a Golden Elephant logo. The front crystal has a red "V2" sticker applied.
Weight: 121.5g. Put the watch on a scale. If it doesn't weigh 121.5 grams, it's not a VSF V2. Older VSF batches and fake VSF models are lighter.
White gold bezel: The V2 bezel uses the upgraded electroplating that resists fading and oxidation. If the bezel looks dull or has visible wear at the fluting peaks out of the box, it's not the V2.
F6U clasp code: The engraving on the inside of the folding clasp on a genuine VSF V2 reads "F6U." If the clasp code is different, it's not the V2.
5. Bottom line
The V2 update is about hitting the right weight (121.5g) and the right thickness (11.60mm) while keeping the Dandong 3235 movement. The anti-counterfeit measures are worth paying attention to because the V2 is popular enough that other factories are trying to pass their stock off as VSF.
When checking QC photos: verify the crystal edge is straight, not rounded. Verify the clasp code is F6U. And if the seller can't put the watch on a scale showing 121.5g, assume it's not the V2.
