The 2026 Rolex novelties brought a new dial to the Datejust: a gradient green enamel finish that shifts from vibrant green at the center to deep black at the edge. The moment it was unveiled, VS Factory began engineering its version, available now in both 36mm and 41mm cases.

Getting this dial right matters more than usual. Most competitor factories saw "green dial" and reached for their standard sunburst brushing tooling. That's wrong. The gen dial is a flat-gloss lacquer enamel with no metallic grain at all. VSF identified this difference and built their dial to match. Paired with the Dandong 3235 movement and a white gold-plated fluted bezel, this is the most accurate version of this reference currently available.

1. Dial forensics: true enamel vs. flawed sunburst

The Gen 2026 gradient green dial is not Rolex's traditional sunray finish. It's a highly glossy, flat lacquer enamel that creates a liquid pool effect — bright green at the center, fading seamlessly to near-black at the outer edge. No radial lines. No metallic brushing. Just a deep, glossy gradient.

Competitor factories rushed to market with standard sunburst tooling. Those dials have visible radial lines radiating from the center, and the light reflection pattern is completely wrong next to gen. It's an immediate tell. VSF replicated the correct flat-gloss enamel texture with the proper gradient transition, giving the dial the same liquid depth as gen. Under macro or angled light, there are no brushing lines visible.

2. Bezel construction: white gold electroplating

The fluted bezel on the Datejust ref. 126334 and 126234 is made from 18K white gold on gen. Standard steel bezels read as cold grey by comparison. VSF uses an advanced white gold electroplating process that warms up the tone and brings it closer to gen's brilliance. It's also more resistant to oxidation and fading than standard plating, which addresses a durability problem that older Datejust reps had.

The usual caveat: it's still plating over steel. The high points on the fluted bezel will show wear over time with daily use. That's unavoidable on any plated rep.

3. Mechanical architecture: the Dandong 3235 caliber

Both the 36mm and 41mm versions run the Dandong 3235, a ground-up clone of the Rolex caliber rather than a decorated ETA. Power reserve is 72 hours, matching gen. The date flips instantaneously at midnight instead of rolling slowly. Crown winding direction, tactile feedback, and time-setting operation all match the gen spec.

This is VSF's standard Datejust movement, which means parts availability and watchmaker familiarity are better than with newer or more obscure clone calibers.

4. Case geometry and sizing options

Both 36mm and 41mm cases are available, each with correct lug taper, case thickness, and crystal height for the respective gen reference. The 904L steel bracelets come in Oyster and Jubilee configurations. The Jubilee has correctly polished inner links, and the Oysterclasp includes the Easylink 5mm comfort extension.

5. Pre-order availability and bottom line

Both sizes are open for pre-order now. The gradient green enamel dial is the only reason to buy this specific release over a standard Datejust. If the dial on a "2026 gradient green" has visible sunburst brushing lines, it's the wrong dial. VSF got the finish right.

When checking QC photos, look at the dial under angled light. If you see radial lines, reject it. The correct dial is a glossy, flat pool of color with no metallic grain and a smooth green-to-black fade.
