The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT 215.30.44.22.03.001 is the blue ceramic GMT Planet Ocean. Blue ceramic bezel, blue ceramic dial, orange GMT hand. The Planet Ocean is Omega's 600-meter dive watch. It is thicker and heavier than the Seamaster 300M and it wears like it. The GMT function adds a second time zone hand and an inner 24-hour track. The dial. Blue ZrO2 ceramic with a high-gloss polished finish. The applied indices and hands have Super-LumiNova fill. The GMT hand is orange and reads against a 24-hour inner track printed on the dial perimeter. The track splits day and night hours, which is standard GMT design. The orange pops against the blue the same way the orange numerals pop on the black Planet Ocean. The date sits at 3. VSF matched the blue ceramic tone correctly and the dial is evenly finished.
The bezel. Blue ceramic with a Liquidmetal diving scale. Liquidmetal is an amorphous metal alloy that is injection-molded into the ceramic. The silver numerals sit flush with the ceramic surface. No raised graduations. The result is a smooth bezel face with embedded markings that will not fade or separate. The blue matches the dial. The bezel action is firm with the heavier Planet Ocean click feel.
The movement. Dandong DD8906 automatic GMT. This is the GMT variant of the 8900 with a true independent jumping local hour hand. The hour hand adjusts in one-hour clicks forward or backward without stopping the running seconds or the GMT hand. For international travel, the independent hour hand is the correct GMT implementation. You set the GMT hand to a reference time and jump the local hour to match wherever you land. The date is linked to the local hour hand, which is correct for a true GMT movement. Power reserve is approximately 60 hours.
The case. 43.5mm in 316L steel. The Planet Ocean case is thicker than the Seamaster 300M at 16mm plus. It has the signature twisted lugs with a brushed finish and polished chamfers. The helium escape valve sits at 10 o'clock. The crown and HEV are both screw-down. The case wears heavy and the wrist presence is significant. This is not a watch that disappears under a cuff.
The bracelet. Fully brushed 316L steel bracelet with a foldover clasp and a micro-adjustment extension. The all-brushed finish matches the tool-watch identity. The clasp has a push-button release and the diver's extension lets you size it over a wetsuit. The bracelet is comfortable and the articulation is smooth. The Planet Ocean also works on rubber, and the blue ceramic dial and bezel pair well with a blue rubber strap if you want to drop weight.
