The Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco PAM01226 is the 44mm steel Submersible with the matte white dial. Most Submersibles run black or blue. The white dial changes how the watch reads. It feels lighter, more open, and the black hands and black surrounds on the indices create a reverse contrast that is easier to read at a glance than black-on-black. The military green rubber strap is the standard Panerai choice for the white dial references and it works. VSF Watch got the dial white and the case proportions right.

The dial. Matte white with black skeletonized hands and black surrounds on the luminous indices. The reverse contrast is the point. On a black dial, the lume is the brightest element. On the white dial, the black hands and black index rings are the darkest elements against the white background. The eye finds them faster. In the dark the lume glows through the hands and indices the same way it does on any Submersible. The white dial is not sunburst. It is a flat matte finish that does not reflect. VSF got the white tone correct and the black surrounds are cleanly printed with even line weight.
The size. 44mm QuarantaQuattro. The middle size in the Submersible range. It fits between the 42mm and 47mm models. The white dial reads visually larger than a black dial of the same diameter, so the 44mm Bianco has more wrist presence than the 44mm black dial 1229 even though the case dimensions are identical. The fully brushed steel case absorbs light and the overall look is utilitarian.
The bezel. Solid steel with engraved graduations and a luminous pip at 12. Unlike the ceramic bezel references, the steel bezel will develop surface marks with wear. The engraved markings are filled with a dark material for contrast against the brushed steel. The bezel action is firm with clean clicks.
The movement. Dandong P.900 automatic. Standard date quickset and small seconds at 9. No independent jumping hour hand. Same movement as the other P.900-based Submersibles. Reliable and correctly spec'd for the 44mm case.
The strap. Military green rubber accordion diver strap with a brushed steel tang buckle. The green against the white dial and brushed steel case is the standard Panerai pairing. The accordion design flexes with wrist movement. The brushed buckle matches the case finish. Strap changes are fast and this case takes white rubber or black NATO naturally. The green strap gives the watch enough personality without competing with the white dial.
