The Panerai Submersible Bronzo PAM00968 is the first 47mm Bronzo to pair a bronze case with a ceramic bezel insert instead of a solid bronze bezel. The case oxidizes. The bezel does not. That is the whole idea. The brown ceramic insert stays permanently clean while the bronze around it darkens and greens. The contrast between the aging metal and the fixed ceramic is what gives the 968 its identity. VSF Watch Factory got the bronze alloy, the ceramic color, and the brown dial right.

The hybrid bezel. This is the first Bronzo where Panerai put a ceramic insert in the bezel instead of leaving it solid bronze. The bezel base and the raised studs around the perimeter are bronze. They patina. The insert is micro-sandblasted matte brown ceramic. It stays exactly the way it left the factory. No oxidation, no color shift, no scratches. After six months the bronze case and bezel frame will be dark and mottled while the brown ceramic ring sits in the middle looking brand new. Some people want their whole watch to age. Others want a permanent fixed element that anchors the design. The 968 gives you both. VSF matched the brown ceramic tone correctly and the insert sits flush with the bronze bezel edge.

The dial. Matte brown. Brown on brown with bronze accents. The bronze-toned lume on the dots and indices ties to the case metal without being an exact match. The skeletonized hands with bronze fill are warm against the brown dial. The date at 3 and small seconds at 9 are standard Submersible layout. The brown dial plus brown ceramic bezel plus bronze case is a monochromatic warm palette. No blue, no green, no white lume. It is the earthiest colorway in the Submersible line. VSF got the brown tone right and the dial text is correctly placed.

The case. 47mm solid CuSn8 bronze. The case and crown guard start warm and develop a green-brown patina with exposure. The crown guard is bronze to match the case. The 47mm size is big. This is the oversized Submersible platform and it wears like it. The weight is substantial and the wrist presence is loud. VSF's bronze alloy is correct and the patina progression matches gen.

The movement. Dandong P.9010 automatic. Independent jumping hour hand for time zone adjustment and date quickset through the hour hand. Neither stops the running seconds. The P.9010 is the current-generation movement in the 47mm Submersible line and it is the correct architecture for this reference. The winding is smooth and the date change is clean.

The strap. Distressed dark brown leather with beige contrast stitching and an OP logo stamp. The bronze trapezoidal tang buckle patinas with the case. The distressed finish means the strap already looks worn in from day one. The brown leather and brown dial tie together without being an exact color match. Strap changes are fast and this case takes dark brown rubber or canvas naturally. For water exposure, swap to rubber. The bronze case will age either way.
