The Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs PAM01324 is the Carbotech version of the 1323. Same crosshair subdial, same SEALs branding, but the case and bezel are carbon fiber composite instead of brushed steel, and the dial is forged carbon instead of anthracite gradient. The material swap changes the watch more than you would expect. The 1323 reads as a military tool watch in steel. The 1324 reads as something designed this year. VSF got the Carbotech case and the forged carbon dial pattern right.

The double carbon. The case and bezel are Carbotech. Same compressed carbon fiber sheets as the other Carbon Submersibles and Luminors. Matte black, wavy layered pattern, each case unique. The dial is forged carbon instead of a printed gradient. Forged carbon uses randomly compressed carbon flakes suspended in resin. The result is a chaotic marbled texture in dark grey and black. It reads as a camouflage pattern at a glance. The Carbotech case pattern is more structured with visible layered striations. The forged carbon dial is more random with marbled swirls. Two different carbon textures on one watch. VSF got both right. The contrast between the structured case and the chaotic dial is what gives the 1324 its visual identity.

The yellow accents. Golden-yellow outlines on the skeletonized hands, yellow small seconds hand, yellow bezel markers, and a yellow rubberized winding crown. The crown ring is the most visible pop of color from most angles. It is bright and sits right at the edge of the case. In photos it looks loud. On wrist it is a single yellow dot at the side of an otherwise black watch. The bezel markings and the hand outlines tie it together.

The crosshair subdial. Same sniper scope reticle pattern as the steel 1323. Concentric rings with a crosshair printed at the 9 o'clock subdial. The golden-yellow seconds hand tracks over it. The forged carbon dial underneath gives it more depth than the flat anthracite background on the steel version. The crosshair is a love-it-or-hate-it design choice. VSF printed it cleanly with even line weight and correct centering.

The case. 44mm Carbotech. Lighter than steel by a noticeable margin. The crown guard is also Carbotech. The bezel rotates with firm clicks and the luminous pip is centered at 12. The case wears smaller than its dimensions because carbon absorbs light and reads visually smaller than reflective steel.

The movement. Dandong P.900 automatic. Standard date quickset and small seconds. No independent jumping hour hand. It is the correct movement for the 44mm Carbon Submersible case and it is reliable. The trade-off for the carbon case and the forged dial is the movement complexity. If you want the SEALs crosshair and the double-carbon construction, the P.900 does what it needs to do. If the GMT function matters more than the case material, look at the 47mm Submersibles with the P.9001.

The strap. Black rubber accordion diver strap with a DLC-coated titanium tang buckle. The titanium is lighter than steel and the DLC coating prevents any mismatch between the dark buckle and the Carbon case. The accordion design flexes with wrist movement and expands over a wetsuit. Strap changes are fast and this case takes black NATO or grey canvas without issue. The yellow crown ring means you do not need a yellow-accented strap for the watch to have enough color.
