The crosshair target pattern on the small seconds subdial at 9 is the defining feature. It replaces the standard Submersible seconds layout with a scope-like reticle design. The crosshair subdial. This is the reason the 1323 exists. Instead of a plain small seconds at 9, Panerai printed a sniper scope reticle. A crosshair with concentric rings. The second hand tracks over it in golden-yellow. It references the SEALs' marksmanship identity. Some people will find it gimmicky. Others will love it. What matters for the rep is execution. VSF got the crosshair pattern centered correctly and the scale rings are evenly printed with consistent line weight. The golden-yellow seconds hand sweeps smoothly over the target pattern.
The dial. Anthracite grey gradient that darkens toward the outer edge. Less dramatic than the Verde Smeraldo green gradient but it adds depth without drawing attention away from the crosshair subdial. "NAVY SEALS" is printed in white at 6 in. The indices are white Super-LumiNova dots and batons. The skeletonized hands have golden-yellow outlines that match the small seconds hand. The yellow is muted. It reads warmer than the Signal Yellow on the Pole2Pole but serves the same function. A small hit of color against an otherwise grey and black dial. Date at 3 is standard Submersible placement.
The case. 44mm fully brushed steel. No polished surfaces. The brushing eliminates reflections, which is the stated military rationale, but in practice, it also hides desk-diving scratches better than polished cases. The crown guard is brushed to match. The bezel is brushed steel with polished raised graduations. The bezel action is firm, and the clicks are consistent. The 44mm size has wrist presence without the weight of the 47mm Submersibles.
The movement. Dandong P.900 automatic. No independent jumping hour hand. Standard date, quickset, and small seconds. The P.900 was chosen to keep the case profile manageable at 44mm. It is reliable and the winding feel is smooth. If you need the GMT function, this is not the reference. If the crosshair subdial and the SEALs aesthetic are what you are after, the P.900 does the job.
The strap. Black rubber accordion diver strap with a brushed steel tang buckle. The accordion design flexes with wrist movement and the brushed buckle matches the case finish. The black rubber and black dial let the crosshair subdial and the yellow accents carry the visual identity. Strap changes are fast, and this case takes black NATO or grey canvas naturally. For actual water exposure, the rubber is what you want.
