The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM01663 mixes two composite materials in one case. The main case body and crown guard are Fibratech, the basalt fiber composite that comes out a matte grey with horizontal striations. The bezel and locking lever are Carbotech, the carbon fiber composite with the dark, wavy layered pattern. The combination sounds busy on paper. In person, it works because Fibratech and Carbotech are both matte and dark-toned, so they sit next to each other without clashing. The blue gradient dial pulls the whole thing toward something more wearable. VSF Watch Factory got both materials and the dial gradient right.

The case. This is the only Panerai reference that splits the case between Fibratech and Carbotech. The main body is Fibratech. It is about 60 percent lighter than steel and has a matte grey finish with horizontal mineral striations that vary from piece to piece. The bezel and the crown locking lever are Carbotech. Darker, wavier, more layered. The contrast between the two composites is subtle in low light and more visible in direct sun. The crown guard bridge is Fibratech to match the case body, while the lever itself is Carbotech to match the bezel. That small material swap on the lever is the kind of detail that would be easy to skip and VSF did not. No two cases are identical because both composites have randomized patterns.
The dial. Blue gradient sandwich dial. The center reads as a bright oceanic blue and it darkens toward the edges, though the gradient is gentler than the Verde Smeraldo on the eSteel models. White Super-LumiNova numerals and indices against the blue. No beige, no vintage warmth. The skeletonized hands with white fill are clean and legible against both the bright center and the darker perimeter. Date at 3, small seconds at 9. The dial balances the industrial look of the hybrid case. Without the blue it would feel too military. With it, the watch has enough color to work as a daily piece.
The movement. Dandong P.9010. Independent jumping hour hand, date quickset through the hour hand, neither operation stops the running seconds. Same movement VSF puts in every current Luminor. It is consistent, predictable, and the GMT function works without the quirks that plague cheaper clone calibers. On a reference where the case is already doing something unusual, a known quantity inside is the right call.
The strap. Dark blue Sportech with white contrast stitching and a DLC titanium buckle. Sportech is a rubber-backed synthetic weave. It handles water without staining, does not stiffen after getting wet, and the white stitching picks up the white lume on the dial. The DLC titanium buckle keeps the dark theme going and matches both the Fibratech grey and the Carbotech black. Like any Panerai, strap changes are fast and this case works with blue rubber or grey canvas just as naturally as the stock strap.
