The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM01118 is the Carbotech variant with the lumed rehaut ring and the Sportech strap. It came out of the 70th-anniversary Luminor push, but the meaningful thing about it is the combination of materials: carbon case, sunburst dial, luminous stitching, and lumed crown bridge. It is a lot of light on a lot of dark surfaces. The VSF Watch Factory version gets the carbon pattern and the dial finishing right, and the Sportech strap is comfortable in a way that leather is not when you are sweating through a summer afternoon.

The dial. The black sunburst finish is subtle. It does not flash like the blue dials, but the grain is there when light hits it. The standout feature is the lumed rehaut ring. Most Panerai rehauts are unlit. This one glows, and the effect in the dark is a full ring of green around the dial that adds depth without making the watch harder to read. VSF got the lume application on the numerals, indices, hands, and rehaut clean and even. The date window at 3 is correctly positioned, and the font matches.
The case. Carbotech, same material and process as the 661. Compressed carbon fiber sheets with a polymer binder. Matte finish, wavy layered pattern, lighter than steel. The crown guard is Carbotech as well and includes luminous detailing on the lever and crown edges. That is a small touch, but it is the kind of detail that separates this reference from the earlier Carbotech models. VSF replicated the luminous bridge correctly.
The strap. Black Sportech with luminous white stitching. Sportech is a synthetic material. It feels like a cross between rubber and fabric, and it handles moisture better than leather. The luminous stitching is a gimmick, but it is a fun one. In daylight, it is just white contrast stitching. In the dark, it picks up a charge and glows along with the dial and rehaut. The DLC-coated titanium tang buckle is a nice match for the matte carbon case and keeps the weight down.
The movement. Dandong P.9010, the same movement VSF uses across the Luminor range. Independent jumping hour hand, date quickset through the hour hand; neither operation interrupts the running seconds or minutes. At this point, the P.9010 is a known quantity. It works the way it should, and if you have handled any other VSF Panerai, you know exactly what to expect.
