Case: Goldtech rose gold plating
Panerai's proprietary Goldtech alloy uses a higher copper content for a deeper red tone, plus a small amount of platinum to resist oxidation over time. Standard rose gold can read as brassy or overly yellow. VSF color-matched their plating to replicate the richer, redder Goldtech tone. The entire case — cushion body, smooth fixed bezel, and locking crown guard — is fully polished over the rose gold plating.
As with any plated rep, the gold layer will wear at friction points over time: the crown guard lever, bezel edge, and caseback threads are the areas that show wear first.
Dial: sunburst black sandwich
Unlike the matte black dials on Panerai's tool watches, the Due uses a sunburst finish that radiates from the center. Under direct light, the black dial comes alive with a metallic sheen. The sandwich construction has cut-outs at 12 and 6 with stick indices elsewhere, backed by vintage beige Super-LumiNova. The hands are polished gold-tone with matching beige luminous fill. Against the black sunburst dial, the gold hands and rose gold case create a strong formal contrast.
Case profile: 10.5mm Due
At 10.5mm, the Due is roughly 5mm thinner than a standard Luminor. The cushion silhouette and crown guard are retained, but the slim profile completely changes how the watch wears. It clears a dress cuff without resistance.
Movement: Dandong P.900
Same slimmer P.900 architecture used across VSF's Due and Submersible lines. Integrated clone with no decorative overlay plates — that's how the 10.5mm case thickness holds. Hacking seconds, smooth hand-winding, quick-set date at 3, clean midnight flip.
Strap
Black alligator-embossed leather with tone-on-tone stitching. Rose gold-plated Pre-V tang buckle matches the case. The black strap against the black sunburst dial keeps the watch monochromatic and formal.
Things to check in QC
The black dial should show visible sunburst movement under light — a dead matte black dial means the wrong finish. The rose gold plating should read as warm reddish-gold rather than yellow or brassy. The gold-tone hands should match the case metal. The sandwich cut-outs should have clean edges. The date should sit centered and flip cleanly. At 10.5mm, the case should read as noticeably thinner than a standard Luminor.
